When teeth cannot be kept, or have already been lost to disease, they can be replaced with dental implants. This is the closest thing to having real teeth again.
Dental implants are the most successful form of dental treatment that can be provided. In fact, among all medical implant devices, dental implants rank the as having the highest success rate. (Over 90%, even after 15-20 years) Implants are very versatile and can be used for a variety of applications. They can support dentures, bridgework or can be used to replace a single missing tooth.
Dr Fields’ personal experience with implants began with hands-on training during his residency program 1989-1991. Since then, he has placed over 2000 implants with a cumulative success rate of 97%. Even in those rare instances where an implant did not work, most of these losses occurred in the first year after placement. Those lost have since been successfully “replaced” with no further complications.
Implants are not for everyone and in some cases, Dr. Fields will not place an implant if he does not feel it will last for a very long time. Implants require excellent oral hygiene care from the patient, along with regular cleanings and check ups just like real teeth. Dr. Fields will work with your referring dentist to make sure the implants are restored.
A consultation with your referring doctor is required before an implant is ever placed.
